Leadership is what defines Gary Thompson

My career has uniquely positioned me to serve Justice Court and the Henderson community. My desire to support the community and specifically Henderson stems from the sense of pride I have long held from being a Henderson resident. Growing up in Henderson, I attended Basic High School, when it was the only high school in town. At that time, we did not just take pride in being Basic High School students, we took pride in being from Henderson. The school was inclusive of all walks of life and taught us a sense of community. I also come from a long line of family members choosing careers of service. My grandfather served in the military and was in the attack on Pearl Harbor. And my dad was a Henderson police officer from 1967 through 1995.

I attended undergraduate school at UNLV and obtained my Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego. After graduating, I returned home and built a career supporting the Las Vegas and Henderson communities.

Currently, I am the Managing Partner and Attorney for the Law Offices of Gary Thompson which is located on Water Street. I focus on Criminal Defense and Personal Injury law supporting clients in receiving the care and resolution they deserve. Over my 28-year career, I have worked with clients across Personal Injury, Criminal Defense, Divorce, Bankruptcy, and Construction Defect. I have also had the distinct honor to serve as Judge Pro Tem in both Las Vegas and Henderson. Those opportunities have allowed me to support the Veterans Treatment Court firsthand. I have personally seen the value of supporting our veterans through this program and believe strongly in its results.

My experience as both an Attorney and Pro Tem Judge has given me the opportunity to demonstrate the character, decision-making ability, and balanced demeanor that are required to support and protect our community. I am passionate about helping people reach a successful path whether that is through enforcing a penalty or offering leniency to give them a second chance. I have the capability of balancing those needs to ensure fair outcomes and justice for the community.

To be elected to this role would be the greatest accomplishment of my career as it would be the biggest opportunity to support my community and help people reach a better path in their life.
